Challenge 1 - Day 5

For this challenge, I decided I wanted to get a nice bright background and this was just yelling for some sweet looking images to embellish so this was just perfect for getting out my new Avery Elle Cool Treat stamps and after stamping with my favourite things hybrid ink I went stamp crazy.

Hybrid Ink for me is a great invention as I often stamp not knowing if I want to watercolour, use pencils or alcohol markers and before getting this ink I had to mark on all the pages I was stamping on if I used Memento ink or Versafine and now I just use the hybrid and I can roll with whatever I feel like.

To colour in the images I decided to use some LuminArte watercolours I bought these second hand and had yet to really play with them. I just love the metallic shimmer to these and once all coloured I did go back around the outlines just to make the black line stand out



Card 1 - I used the striped paper and made the little borders out of white card and then used some distress oxides to create the green and blue finishing it with 3 of the cool treat embellishments along with your so sweet sentiment from the stamp set.

Card 2 - Using just a single strip of paper against a simple white card to bring this out I just added a circle cut from a piece of card that I stamped with concord and 9th Plaid background stamp using a stitched circle die and using a black card and an X cut thank you die to create the thank you along with the you're so sweet sentiment and the smoothie image just to finish it off




I had the bit of card that I had stamped the plaid background on and well it was just too pretty to throw away so I decided to use it and using a simple sentiment and the thanks die from paper smooches along with a embellishment from my ever growing boxes I made this little bonus card

I have never been a Christmas card sender if I am totally honest however this year I think that since I have quite a few Christmas cards that maybe this year it is the time to send them out. For the main item on this card I used the Hero Arts Gingerbread Wishes stamp which I recently got on eBay however if I can find a link for somewhere that has it for sale I will. Well, my sister in law and I have started picking up a few things for Christmas I know!! it's only September but hey with 3 kids and 4 adults in the house we need to get started and well the little bits we picked up are mounting up in my bedroom (our current hiding place) and well it needs to get logged (so we don't forget what we have got) and wrapped so sitting at the craft table today doing a little colouring on some Christmas images and having the realisation that I am so lacking in stamps small enough for tags. Although I will be rectifying that very soon. I mean come on who has not seen the new Mama Elephant stamps with the cute snowmen or the elves or the penguins just soo many choices!!!!!! Challenge 1 - Day 1

So the challenge has started and I sat on the pc for a little bit thinking and decided that I wanted to get some sketches to use for card making. I think card sketches are a great tool to help people learn and I follow Kirstie Marcotte on youtube (her channel is linked below) and she uses sketches for all her paper pad using cards and these help me figure out things on this card. On this card, I used the Freshly Made Sketches 295 originally going with the round design as there were some round elements in the cut out of this paper selection but in the end, I decided to go with some plain circle die cuts and a simple birthday sentiment. I will admit if I was to do this card again I would change a few things I would not have used liquid glue to place the black card down as it has warped the card a little and I think I would have raised the flower up so that it set off from the card.
