Organising

The weather in the UK has been surprisingly nice and with that today I decided to go into the room which we said last year would be a craft room (has since turned into craft dumping room) and I gutted the desk placing pretty much everything in bags to be dealt with later (maybe this year maybe next year) and I started to work on a stamp pad holder by making it myself. I am sure it will not be perfect but I am learning very little is perfect and that includes me. But at the end of the day, I have had some fun with making this. As I was making this stamp pad storage I started to think about the idea I had seen about having a binder with all your ink stamped on some card so you can flick through and see what you have before you choose to just grab and then have 40 inks on your desk and so I went searching. Whilst I know on the ranger website you can get the coloured chart to download my issue is with my dyslexia I find things in alphabetical order make better sense to me and don't o...

Challenge 1 - Day 5

Image
For this challenge, I decided I wanted to get a nice bright background and this was just yelling for some sweet looking images to embellish so this was just perfect for getting out my new Avery Elle Cool Treat stamps and after stamping with my favourite things hybrid ink I went stamp crazy. Hybrid Ink for me is a great invention as I often stamp not knowing if I want to watercolour, use pencils or alcohol markers and before getting this ink I had to mark on all the pages I was stamping on if I used Memento ink or Versafine and now I just use the hybrid and I can roll with whatever I feel like. To colour in the images I decided to use some LuminArte watercolours I bought these second hand and had yet to really play with them. I just love the metallic shimmer to these and once all coloured I did go back around the outlines just to make the black line stand out Card 1 - I used the striped paper and made the little borders out of white card and th...

Challenge 1 - Day 4

Image
Day 4 I decided to go out the box and give tags a try. The first tag I made was the elephant tag and on this one, I only used one layer of foam tape and I found this was not high enough and I found the chunky glitter stuck a little to the side I even tried using my little embossing powder thing and still stuck so on the second one I decided to try putting 2 layers of foam down and I prefer the thicker one I think I still need to practice a little more but I will mark it up to experience. This challenge is definitely making me think and push me and I still have sheets to go!!!! When I think I got it down I am looking into my pack and realise there is still more to go

Challenge 1 - Day 3

Image
The card for day 3 has been completed over a couple days due to not have the umph and I been trying to get out walking and enjoying the weather. With these cards, I did use a template but I can't find the one I had to note it. Which is not surprising since I currently craft in my bedroom which is a mess with craft stuff. Plus I am trying to organise my stamps and dies using the Avery Elle pockets and magnet sheets and they looking so good just need to finish the dies as I am loving the pockets and they making life so much easier and starting now means by time I get a craft room they will be ready to slide into the space that will be set for them. With this cards, I have done some different colours and not so sure that they work but after watching a youtube video I have linked this video as was interesting  (How to avoid muddy colours) on some colour theory I am learning about colours that compliment each other and to figure what not to mix. On these cards, I als...

Challenge 1 - Day 2

Image
The cards for Day two did take me just a little bit longer as I had to finish the card in Day 3 due to spending a little time with my nephew & nieces but I just love how cute these have turned out. I am the sort of person that goes on a stamping crazy and will stamp out a load of images and spend a couple days just colouring and for this, I love my embellishment boxes I would love to say only one box but no I stamp a lot. I currently fussy cut all my images unless I have a die but mostly fussy cut and I am saving hard to get myself a scan n cut although that might just feed my stamping and colouring in addiction!!!!!. A picture of one of my embellishment boxes. These two cute cards came from using MFTWSC378 (My favourite thing sketch) and using a cute mermaid and elephant stamp

Challenge 1 - Day 1

Image
So the challenge has started and I sat on the pc for a little bit thinking and decided that I wanted to get some sketches to use for card making. I think card sketches are a great tool to help people learn and I follow Kirstie Marcotte on youtube (her channel is linked below) and she uses sketches for all her paper pad using cards and these help me figure out things on this card. On this card, I used the Freshly Made Sketches 295 originally going with the round design as there were some round elements in the cut out of this paper selection but in the end, I decided to go with some plain circle die cuts and a simple birthday sentiment. I will admit if I was to do this card again I would change a few things I would not have used liquid glue to place the black card down as it has warped the card a little and I think I would have raised the flower up so that it set off from the card. But I don't think it turned out too bad. Items Used to make this Freshly Mad...

Defeating the Hoarder in Me

Image
As I am sure anyone that is into crafting may admit that we are all sometimes just a little bit of a hoarder saving papers and other embellishments saying I will save these and I will use them at some point yet they sit there and sit there and sit there and well in my case with lack of storage or space at the moment they end up folded and wrinkled and well often will end up just in the bin. After some thought recently and starting to organise my stamps being my current organisation operation I decided its time to challenge myself to use these things and stop hoarding and let's see what I can come up with. So with this thought, this blog was born and my 1st challenge was set. Challenge 1 I subscribe to two crafting magazines here in the UK and often get some stunning stamps and whilst a few of them offer papers inside the magazines I am not so keen on this due to the glossy shine that is on the paper, however, the one I did recently get (forgotten the magazine) the pap...
